Black Ops Review For PS3

Considering the controversial ratings this game has been receiving, I consider writing this review mandatory. I also think anyone who thinks this game is good should go ahead and give it 5 stars just to counteract the weirdos that are giving one or two star ratings. I just got the game today, but I've spent enough time to confirm or deny what other reviewers are saying, and hopefully I can give some honest feedback.

From what I can tell, the negative reviews given to Black Ops are unjustified. There are many possible reasons for this, mostly related to MW2. For example, some people wanted Black Ops to be more like MW2. Some wanted it to be less like MW2. The fact that almost all the reviews of this game are more focused on talking about MW2 than Black Ops show that people are hung up over that game and really shouldn't be reviewing this one. The two games are just different... welcome to the world of obvious facts. Personally, I'm glad this game is different, because if I wanted to play MW2 instead I would just play that and not waste my money on a new game. Activision probably should have waited longer before releasing this game and given MW2 more time to lose its charm and leave gamers hungry for something new; they also could have invested that time in further developing Black Ops.

One thing I was REALLY hoping for in this game was to be able to buy the guns I wanted. I absolutely hated the fact that I had to level in order to unlock the weapons I wanted in MW2. Level 70 to get the AK? Screw you, Infinity Ward. Screw you. When I read about the purchasing system in Black Ops I got all excited; surely, this meant no more leveling! Oh, how wrong I was. Now not only do you have to level to unlock guns, but THEN you have to buy them, and the AK is still relegated to a high level, although not as high as it was in MW2. From the looks of things, the required leveling can be done quicker, which is good because I have had MW2 for months and am only on level 40. What the buying system really means is that you don't have to do those stupid challenges to get the accessories you want--this is much appreciated.

Bottom line, if you are a lone wolf player like me, this is definitely the game for you.
